Rising illustration star to illustrate collection of Scottish YA poems on LGBTQ themes
Following their call for illustrators, the Emma Press has chosen Helene Boppert, a Germany-based artist, to illustrate Wain, an upcoming poetry collection by Rachel Plummer featuring LGBTQ+ poems retelling Scottish myths and legends.
New anthology of kings and queens poems coming soon from the Emma Press
Award-winning publisher the Emma Press is publishing The Head That Wears a Crown: Poems About Kings and Queens, an anthology of eye-opening, entertaining and educational poems for children aged 8+ about the lives and histories of many kings and queens who ruled in England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales.
The Emma Press shortlisted for Michael Marks Award
Birmingham-based publisher Emma Press has been shortlisted for the Michael Marks Publishers’ Award 2018. They previously won the award in 2016 and this is the fourth time that they have been shortlisted.
Birmingham publisher to launch call for picture book manuscripts
The Emma Press has announced plans to launch a call for picture book proposals from writers – including those who illustrate their own work – in 2019. The independent publisher, which is based in the Jewellery Quarter in Birmingham, will be looking for manuscripts for picture books for children with potential for crossover appeal. The call will open on 14th January 2019 and closes on 20th April 2019.
