The Emma Press publishes second volume of Carson’s Postcard Stories
The Emma Press is launching Postcard Stories 2 by Jan Carson at EastSide Arts Festival this week, with an online event on 6th August and an outdoor picnic in Belfast on 9th August.

Postcard Stories 2 is the followup to Carson’s successful collection Postcard Stories, which has sold over 2000 copies since being published in 2017. The second volume contains six newly-commissioned illustrations from the original illustrator, Benjamin Phillips.
Carson began writing microfiction on postcards and sending them to friends in 2015, to overcome writer’s block, and she has since written and posted over 500 stories. The Postcard Stories project has grown during lockdown, with Carson posting stories to isolated older people, using social media to ask people to nominate recipients.

Carson’s novel The Fire Starters was published by Doubleday in 2019 and won the EU Prize for Literature for Ireland the same year. It was recently awarded the Red Tentacle (novel) category at The Kitschies.
The online launch event for Postcard Stories 2 will be at 7pm on Thursday 6th August, and the outdoor event will be in Victoria Park, Belfast, at 1.30pm on Sunday 9th August. Booking details here: https://theemmapress.com/events/
