The Emma Press acquires third pamphlet from poet Kathy Pimlott

The Emma Press is delighted to announce acquisition of After the Rites and Sandwiches, a pamphlet from acclaimed poet Kathy Pimlott.

The pamphlet was acquired by The Emma Press directly from the author following an open call for submissions in August 2023.

Candid, heartbreaking and breathlessly nuanced, After the Rites and Sandwiches navigates the experience of an unexpected bereavement through poems deeply attuned to layers of loss and the complex memories of a long and textured marriage. Following her debut pamphlet Goose Fair Night (2016) and Elastic Glue (2019), After the Rites and Sandwiches will be the third Pimlott title published by The Emma Press when it is released in November 2024.

James Trevelyan, Director (maternity) of The Emma Press, said: “It’s a great honour to be publishing this profound exploration of a sudden death and the shock and grief that follows. Kathy Pimlott is a fantastic poet we’ve loved publishing in the past, and this pamphlet brings her trademark clarity, lyricism and even humour to the painful subject of sudden bereavement, without losing sight of the enduring salve of love.”
