The Emma Press has launched a call for submissions for poems about travel for an anthology titled In Transit: Poems about Travel.
The Emma Press has launched a call for poems about rituals and customs in Britain, for an anthology publishing in October 2018. Editors Richard O’Brien and Emma Wright hope the book will ‘build up a portrait of the country by exploring what its inhabitants commemorate’. The book’s theme is inspired by Ovid’s Fasti.
The Emma Press is among the nine publishers awarded grants in the latest round of the “Support for Foreign Publishers Publishing Latvian Literature” programme, organised by the Latvian Writers Union (LWU) and financed by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Latvia. The grants cover translation and production costs and are linked to Latvia’s participation in the 2018 London Book Fair, as one of the Market Focus countries.
The Emma Press has announced the pamphlets chosen from their call for submissions last year. Editors Rachel Piercey and Emma Wright selected twelve manuscripts, all to be published in 2017. The call for submissions ran from October to December in 2015 and resulted in over 100 applications.
The Emma Press has launched an open call for poems about animals. The Birmingham publisher is looking for poems to feature in The Emma Press Bestiary, guest-edited by Anja Konig and Liane Strauss and publishing in October 2017. The deadline for submissions is 4th December 2016.
The Emma Press is launching The Emma Press Anthology of the Sea on 20th October 2016. It will be the thirteenth in the publisher’s series of themed poetry anthologies, following books with themes including ageing, metamorphosis, female friendship and homesickness. Eve Lacey, the editor, previously edited Furies, an anthology of contemporary women’s poetry published by For Books’ Sake in 2014.
The Emma Press is looking for poems about kings and queens, for a new anthology aimed at children aged 8+. The deadline for submissions is 13th November 2016 and the book will be published in September 2017.
The Emma Press is launching their second anthology of poems for children aged 8+ on 1st October 2016. Watcher of the Skies: Poems about Space and Aliens is edited by Rachel Piercey and Emma Wright and features poems from established poets such as Mandy Coe, Inua Ellams and Cheryl Moskowitz, as well as newer poets such as Sohini Basak and Mary Anne Clark.
