Description
Menagerie is a collection of poems about animals, divided into three sections: water, earth and air. Some poems examine a creature from close-up, almost allowing the reader to see the world through the animal’s eyes, while the poet is more present in other poems, looking on. The collection invites the reader to reflect on loneliness, love, mortality, and hope.
‘This is writing that makes you wish you had the poet’s eyes, and glad she has committed her vision to paper.’ Sabotage Reviews
‘Cheryl Pearson has an artistic eye… The poet is unafraid to move her lens in close.’ Sphinx
‘These poems really are ridiculously good. I know I’ve said that already, but I’ve actually read through this book quite a few times because every time I find something to marvel at, and every time I hope that maybe, just maybe, some of that skill might rub off on me, too. The illustrations are exquisite and having the font the same colour as the pictures is a lovely touch.’ Ruth Moss
